Endoscopy is the use of a light and a camera on the end of a long flexible tube to allow us to visualise the inside of the gastrointestinal tract and the airways. Certain types of endoscope can also be used to examine the urinary tract. Endoscopy can be used to take small biopsies and retrieve foreign objects without the need for surgery.
Although the procedure itself is non-painful, our patients need to be asleep in order to safely operate the equipment and to reduce stress.
If your pet is booked in for endoscopy, please read the following guidelines before bringing them in for their procedure.
