Radiography involves the use of x-rays to obtain a 2D image of what is going on ‘inside’ our patients. These black and white images are incredibly useful to assess the chest, abdomen, skeleton and teeth! Due to health and safety regulations we are unable to be in the room when an x-ray is taken, so this means most of our patients will have to be sedated to help them remain in the correct position.
We use a digital processor for our x-ray images – meaning the picture is ready to view within seconds of taking it. Not only does this reduce the time required for the sedation it also reduces waste in the form of x-ray films.
We also have a digital dental x-ray machine, which is considered the gold-standard for dentistry in small animal patients. To read more about small animal dentistry follow this link.
If your pet is booked in for x-rays, please read the following guidelines before bringing them in for their procedure.
