Stay One Step Ahead
Summer is the season for long walks, grassy adventures, and sun-drenched snuggles in the garden. But it’s also peak time for ticks – those pesky little critters that can turn a sunny stroll into a surprise vet visit.
At All Pets, we want to help you enjoy everything Jersey has to offer this summer, without the unwanted hitchhikers. Whether you’re wandering through St Catherine’s Woods, stretching your legs around Val de la Mare, or enjoying shaded paths in Les Landes, it’s important to be tick-aware.
What Are Ticks and Why Should You Care?
Ticks are small, spider-like parasites that feed on the blood of animals (and occasionally humans). Once latched on, they can transmit a number of diseases – most commonly Lyme disease. The sooner they’re spotted and removed, the better the outcome for your pet.
And it’s not just rural trails – ticks are turning up in coastal car parks, grassy sand dunes and even local gardens. Recent local coverage has highlighted areas in Jersey where ticks have been increasingly spotted, so staying aware wherever you walk is a good habit to get into.

Tick Trouble: What to Look Out For:

What You Can Do
- Check your pet regularly, especially after outdoor adventures.
- Use vet-approved tick treatments – talk to us about the best options for your pet.
- Keep the grass in your garden trimmed and avoid letting pets roam through dense undergrowth.
- Carry a tick remover in your walk bag (we stock them at the practice if you need one!).
If you spot a tick and aren’t sure what to do, don’t panic – give us a call, or pop us a message via PetsApp. We’re happy to talk you through safe removal or book a quick check-up.
Prevention is the Best Protection
At All Pets, we’re all about proactive care. That includes helping you spot the signs before they become a problem. If your pet isn’t currently on a tick prevention plan, or you’d like to check they’re protected, give us a shout – we’re here to help.
Because happy, healthy pets are what summer memories are made of.
